Nizhny Novgorod Provincial Zemstvo Hospital, main building

Nizhny Novgorod Provincial Zemstvo Hospital is the largest medical institution in the Nizhny Novgorod region in pre-revolutionary times. The main building of the medical institution was built in 1832-1834. On the second floor of the building, a church was built in honor of the Virgin of All Sorrowful Joy. In 1879, the first floor of the main building was dedicated to the accommodation of mental patients, and since the 90s, the upper floor has been given over for the same purposes. From 1917 to the present, the Semashko Hospital has been located in the building.
