Detailed description

The engineering house was built in 1748-1749. The author of the project is unknown for certain, but presumably it was N. I. Muravyov. The architectural style of the one-story house is defined as "Petrovsky Baroque". The building consists of two U-shaped buildings with two gates. The buildings form a rectangular courtyard due to their shape. The facade of the terracotta-pink house is decorated with rusticated shoulder blades. In the 60s, the building was restored according to the project of Irina Benois. To this day, the building has been preserved almost in its original appearance. At various times, the building housed a drawing workshop, an archive, and living quarters. Since the late 60s of the XX century, permanent and temporary thematic expositions have been operating in the Engineering House, as well as meetings of experts from various fields of knowledge.
