Pyatnitsky Gate Tower
Detailed description
The Pyatnitsky Gate Tower is located in the western part of one of the main attractions of the city of Tula - the Tula Kremlin Museum and historical complex. The tower was built in 1514-1520 during the reign of Vasily III, the father of Ivan IV (the Terrible). And it got its name because of its location, the view from the tower overlooks the church of the Great Martyr Paraskeva Friday, built in the sixteenth century. From the sixteenth to the seventeenth century, the tower was the main gateway to the Kremlin, and for centuries it defended the city of Tula and nearby cities from sieges and was never defeated.
