Sheremetyevo Palace
Detailed description
Built in the 18th century, the estate of the Counts Sheremetevs is a unique monument of history and culture, as well as a rare example of manor buildings in St. Petersburg. The stone palace that exists today was built in 1750. Until the 17th year of the twentieth century, the Sheremetyevo Palace and the estate belonged to five generations of the senior branch of the famous Russian Sheremetev family. The Sheremetyevo Palace was museumized after the revolution and existed until the 31st year of the twentieth century. In the 84th year of the twentieth century, the Sheremetyevo Palace was converted into a scientific research institution. In the 90s of the twentieth century, the Sheremetyevo Palace was transferred to the Museum of Theatrical and Musical Art to create a Music Museum in St. Petersburg, where the state collection of musical instruments was located. Currently, most of the halls of the Sheremetyevo Palace have been renovated.
