Detailed description

The income house was built in the 70s of the 19th century by architect Mikhail Peterson, and in 1911, as a result of alterations, a stable and laundry appeared in the courtyard. The owner of the building was a rich merchant Petrovsky, who spared no expense on the construction, so the house had spacious rooms and high ceilings. The exterior facade of the building also looked monumental, the windows were decorated with stucco architraves and pediments. Initially, apartments were rented to people with above-average incomes, famous and wealthy people managed to live here. Alexander Alexandrovich Blok became one of the outstanding personalities. All his works from 1912 to 1920 were published in the apartment on the 4th floor of the building, and Blok met his demise in the same apartment. In honor of the 100th anniversary of Alexander Blok's birth, a museum was opened in the former income house, where historical furniture, diaries and household items of the poet and his wife were used, and a marble plaque was hung on the facade of the house. "Alexander Blok lived in this house from August 6, 1912 and died on August 7, 1921."
