Dobrolyubov Manor
Detailed description
The estate was built in the early 19th century and belonged to the merchant A.F. Kosarev. In 1841, the estate was bought by the writer Nikolai Dobrolyubov, who lived here with his family. Dobrolyubov was one of the most famous Russian writers and critics of the 19th century. He spent a lot of time at the estate, and he spent his last winter here in 1861, when he was struggling with his serious illness. Therefore, many things related to the life and work of Nikolai Dobrolyubov have been preserved here. Currently, the Dobrolyubov estate is open to the public, and the museum of literary criticism is open in the building, where you can see the writer's office, his personal belongings, and monuments dedicated to his life and work. The Dobrolyubov estate occupies an important place in the history of Nizhny Novgorod, because it is a place where many great works of Russian literature were created.
