House of V. Mitrofanov - I. Mokeeva
Detailed description
There used to be a stone house here in the 18th century. However, after the fire in 1844, advisor A.M. Hersonskaya decided to build a more spacious house. It was built by architect L.V. Fostikov. In April 1849, the project of a stone house with a basement was approved. In 1880, the house was bought by the merchant I.M. Mokeev, who later began the reconstruction of the building. According to the project, three-storey service wings were added to the house, as well as the facade decor was updated. In 1900, the Nizhny Novgorod Philistine Society acquired the house. The building housed meeting rooms and an office. The vacant premises were rented out for workshops and shops.
