Trading house of merchants Chirkov
Detailed description
Built at the end of the 19th century according to the design and under the supervision of Fyodor Naumovich Chirkov, this house belonged to the Chirkov dynasty until 1919. The upper floor was rented out, and the store was located on the lower floor. It is considered one of the most exquisite apartment buildings of the Birsky merchant class, due to its pronounced octagon-shaped corner tower, which dominates the facade composition. During the Soviet period, the building was used by various institutions, including the military school evacuated from Leningrad, where Georgy Sviridov, who lived in Birsk for several months, was a cadet. Currently, the building belongs to a branch of BASHGU and is the library's home.
