St. Sergius Church and the Euphemian Hour Bell
Detailed description
This temple plays a key role in the history of Russian architecture. Located in Vladychy Dvor, the oldest gate temple preserved in Russia. It was built in 1459. Through the gate one could get to the outbuildings of the courtyard. A tall clock tower is located to the west, a clock tower was built in 1673, instead of a burnt-out wooden watchtower. A wall painting has been preserved inside the temple in good condition. In the 20s of the 20th century, the temple was used as a museum warehouse, music classrooms and just housing. Now the temple and the church bell are part of the museum reserve and twice a year a service is held there, on patronal holidays.
