Magdeburg Gates
Detailed description
Romanesque bronze gate, which was created in the middle of the 12th century and is located in the western part of St. Sophia Cathedral. The gates were made in the city of Magdeburg and were intended for the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Mary in Plotsk, and the gates were moved to Novgorod in the second quarter of the 15th century. The gate consists of two wings, and is covered with reliefs depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments.
