Detailed description
The kitchen building was built from 1818 to 1822 on Yelagin Island. The architecture of the building will interest a passerby at first glance. The semi-circular structure with covered Prussian arches was created in the classical style. The lower parts of the walls are smoothly plastered with plank rustication. The front part of the building has a frieze of a six-columned portico. It is impossible not to notice the Tuscan-type columns and the same pilasters. The entrance opening of the gate is decorated with a currency-shaped keystone. The kitchen building can attract the attention of sculpture lovers. There are molded female figures along the walls of the main gate. The craftsmen made them out of marble with precision and perfect proportions.
