Revolution Square
Detailed description
Previously it was called the Market. Before the fire of 1851, there were wooden benches and a gostiny dvor. After that, the market was located in a different place, and the square got a new name Panskaya. Alekseevskaya Square became after Samara was transformed into the highest unit of administrative-territorial division in Russia – the province. In 1860, a three-story clock tower was built on it, but after 23 years it fell into disrepair and was dismantled. Since 1887, a circular square has been laid out. In 1917, rallies were held here.
In Soviet times, a monument to V.I. Lenin was erected. Before the revolution, there was a statue of Alexander II in this place.
The House of merchant Svetov is located along the square. The building is decorated with a large number of decorative elements.
