The Mineralogical Museum of the Russian Academy of Sciences named after A.E. Fersman is located in the former manege of Count A. G. Orlov. The building is a monument of Russian architecture of the early 19th century. It was built in the classical style. In 1844, the former arena was rebuilt to house a cavalry squadron. The architect E.D. Tyurin was engaged in the design. Since 1934, the building has been used as a museum. The stone structure is made of durable building materials. The walls are practically devoid of decor. The front part of the facade is decorated with tiled rustication. An ornament in the form of a stone mineral was installed above the doors with an arched ornament. The windows are decorated with sandricks. The triangular roof has a crowning cornice. A stone staircase with a decorated handrail in the center leads to the entrance. The entire architecture of the building is characterized by clarity and simplicity.
