Bell Tower
Detailed description
This bell tower was founded in 1875 and the construction was completed 2 years later. The bell tower is part of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the heart of Rostov-on-Don. The bell tower is 75 meters high. It is built with notes of classicism and Renaissance. The dome's bulb is blue, decorated with golden stars. There is a clock at the very top, and bells in the middle tiers. The main bell, weighing sixteen tons, was cast in Moscow. During the Great Patriotic War, the two upper tiers were blown up. The restoration of the bell tower began in 1999. New bells were cast, and only in 2011 all restoration work was completed. The bell tower stands as a snow-white structure, under a green roof with a gilded dome decorated with a cross.
