Relics of the Holy Metropolitan of Moscow Alexy
Detailed description
As a teenager, Eleutherius often hunted birds, but fell asleep during this activity. While sleeping, he heard a voice asking him a question: "Why are you catching birds, Alexey? You need to be a catcher of people!". After that, he decided to give his life to the priestly ministry. Alexy was also the only clergyman who was the guardian of a minor heir to the throne. Until the 30th year of the 20th century, the relics of St. Alexy were kept in the Miracle Monastery. After that, they were placed in the Dormition Cathedral, which was closed to the public. After the war, they were transferred from the Kremlin Museum to the Yelokhovsky Cathedral. They were transported late at night on October 14, 1947 by truck in an ordinary wooden box. Currently, the relics are in the Epiphany Cathedral.
