Detailed description

The 1st Elagin Bridge spans the Middle Nevka River from Elagin Island to Kamenny Island and is located in the alignment of the Old Theater Square. The bridge is 106.2 meters long and 11.5 meters wide. It is a nine-span metal structure with a drawbridge in the middle. The adjustable span is a single-winged opening system with a fixed axis of rotation. It consists of two metal welded beams located under the sidewalks and interconnected by a girder cage. The abutments of the bridge are loose concrete on a natural foundation, the cones are reinforced with concrete slabs. The intermediate supports are mounted on a wooden pile base with a rigid metal grillage and a metal frame structure. The supports are protected from ice and the bulk of ships by pile bushes. The bridge is being built not according to schedule, but according to preliminary requests for the passage of small vessels. Wiring is carried out using an electromechanical drive.
