Marine Guard Academy
Detailed description
The St. Petersburg Academy of the Marine Guard was founded on October 1, 1975. The students were recruited from among the noble pupils in Kikin's house on the banks of the Neva River. Peter the Great approved the regulations governing studies and service at the Academy. He himself compiled a list of sciences that are necessary for the quality training of future graduates. In 2001, in honor of the 300th anniversary of naval education, the St. Petersburg Naval Institute was renamed the Peter the Great Marine Corps — St. Petersburg Naval Institute.
