The mansion of A.I. Derozhinskaya
Detailed description
Alexandra Ivanovna Derozhinskaya House is an apartment building in Kropotkinsky Lane in Moscow, built in 1901-1904 by architect Fyodor Sheftel for Alexandra Ivanovna Derozhinskaya, the owner of a textile enterprise. Since 1959, the Australian Embassy has been located in the building; in 1995, it was declared an important cultural monument by the federal government. The main entrance is located in the courtyard, with an arched window 11 meters high framed by two towers. The fence balances the building, creating a monumental effect and eliminating the uneven distribution of fine stucco decoration. The lattice pattern is a spiral polyhedron.
