New Mint Building
Detailed description
The new mint building was rebuilt in 1697. The mint is divided into an external and an internal one, has 2 floors, and there is a passage arch in the center of the building. During the time of Peter the Great, there was a blacksmithing and smelting workshop on the ground floor, and on the upper floor there was a storeroom, where a gold sample was placed, and a treasury chamber. There was a debt prison on the courtyard side and precious stones were stored. The main production, namely the manufacture and minting of coins, operated for just over a century. Currently, the mint belongs to the Historical Museum, but in fact it is leased to various organizations. The building is capital, built of red brick, is in exceptionally good condition.
