On the initiative of Muscovites, in 1903, fundraising began for the construction of the museum building. In 1908, in preparation for the celebration of the centenary of the Patriotic War of 1812, a Special Committee was approved to establish a Military Historical Museum in Moscow in memory of the Patriotic War of 1812. It consists of leading historians and archaeologists, prominent collectors, patrons and lovers of antiquity.The museum's exposition includes more than 2,000 exhibits, consists of several thematic sections arranged chronologically, and covers the period from the beginning of the 19th century to the end of the pan‐European military and political confrontation in 1815. A significant part of the exposition consists of modern multimedia tools.
