Fire tower
Detailed description
The three-storey red brick fire station building without stucco stands out from the rest. The street facade has a protruding cornice that extends into a tall fire observation tower. Its height is 26 meters, and it was built between 1872 and 1874 by architect Brullo with the participation of R.B. Bernhard. The tower is separated from the rest of the building in a special way: on the ground floor there was a room for carts, a workshop, a pantry and a communal kitchen. There are barracks and servants' quarters on the second and third floors. There was a two-story stone police station building in the lower part of the courtyard. Today, the metal tower that once held a signal balloon has disappeared from the fire tower. The building now houses a fire brigade.
