The provincial prison of 1896-98 .

The creation of a grandiose project for the construction of the Provincial Prison was started in 1896. The architect was Tadeusz Khalinsky. The prison complex included not only the prison building, but also buildings for bakeries, kitchens, blacksmith shops, morgues, and even power plants. The prison was built with 1,000 cells. The complex has already started its work since 1898. Currently, the building has been reconstructed and several departments of SamSMU are located here, including the Department of Forensic Medicine.
