The main house of the Dolgorukov - Bobrinsky city estate
Detailed description
The estate has been rebuilt several times over the course of at least two centuries. At the end of the 18th century, the estate was acquired by Professor Erasmus of Moscow University. In 1812, the manor was destroyed by a fire in Moscow, and the main house was finally rebuilt in 1819. Originally consisting of a basement and a mezzanine, the third floor was added in the first half of the 20th century. In the 1830s, Alexander Pushkin often visited the house for official events and meetings with acquaintances. The activities of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions are connected with this building. For almost 30 years, exhibitions of famous Peredvizhniki, private painting classes and the editorial office of the Spectator magazine have been located here. After the revolution, the Novy Mir magazine occupied this building from 1947 to 1964. In the period from 2014 to 2016, extensive restoration work was carried out. The historical interiors were restored by Alexey Ginzburg.
