The Military Museum in Athens was founded in 1975 and is dedicated to military art and technology. The museum is located in the center of Athens at the intersection of Vasilisis Sofias Avenue and Risari Street. The idea of creating a museum arose in 1964 to honor the memory of the freedom fighters of Greece. The museum's exposition includes heraldry items, weapons, maps and printed materials, as well as military equipment. The museum also contains artifacts from Ancient China and Japan. The museum holds periodic exhibitions on various stages of the military history of Greece. The museum has opened several branches in other cities of Greece.
