Power plant
Detailed description
The building was built in the early nineteenth century and became known as the Dutch Kitchen, as food was prepared here for the crews of merchant ships entering the port.
But the building called the power plant, which it became in 1913, is better known.
The architecture of the building includes elements of two styles at once. The red brick walls and architraves are Baroque elements, the pediments and rusticated semicircular arches are classic.
It is a monument of urban planning and architecture.
