Old Believers Church of St. John Chrysostom
Detailed description
The Church of St. John Chrysostom was consecrated in 1913. It was built in the Russian style, which was in fashion at the time. Due to the outbreak of the First World War and lack of funds, the vestibule and the stone bell tower were not built. A temporary bell tower was installed in the churchyard, exactly at ground level. In 1924, the church was closed. Under Soviet rule, the church lost five domes and was used as a warehouse and workshop. The building was rented and belongs to the Moscow Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church. Today, the Old Believers' community in Tula has about 50 people.
