V.V. Lerche Eye Hospital
Detailed description
In 1806, the third ophthalmological hospital was opened in St. Petersburg. It was founded by ophthalmologist Giuseppe Raineri. Since the beginning of 1816, the hospital, which was then located on Vasilyevsky Island, was headed by Vasily Vasilyevich Lerche. He became the director of the city's only ophthalmological hospital, participated in the creation of a local society of German doctors, and also worked at the Obukhov Hospital.
During 1823, the ophthalmological hospital was incorporated into the Obukhov Hospital on Fontanka. It is currently used as a medical facility. It is an architectural monument.
