Architect A.I. Melnikov built the arch in the 20th year of the nineteenth century on the site of the one destroyed in the 45th year of the eighteenth century. Prechistenskaya Tower. The monogram of Alexander I was depicted on the wall above the arch. At the same time, the Voskresenskaya Arch was erected on the opposite side of the Kremlin. The wall and arch were repaired in 1936-1938, but were severely damaged during the Great Patriotic War. In 1946-1947, under the leadership of S. N. Davydov and in the 70s of the twentieth century, under the leadership of G. M. Shtender, the arch was restored. In the 75th year of the twentieth century, according to the project of L.Ashikhmin, a metal grating with entrance gates and gates was built in the archway.
