Customs Building
Detailed description
The customs house was built in 1829-1832 on the site of the Lopkin family mansion. The central part of the facade of the customs house has an ionic portico with eight columns, topped by a domed tower. In 1809-1810, the embankment on Malaya Neva between Strelka and Birzhevaya Square was lined with granite, and in 1806-1809, an embankment with a wide staircase decorated with lion sculptures was built in front of the customs building. Inside the building, the hall has two pairs of Doric columns made of yellow artificial marble and is covered by a cross vault. The walls have cornices, and the ceiling is decorated with floral ornaments and portraits.
