The estate of Ivan and Peter Ignatievich Matveev
Detailed description
The house of Buzuluk merchants brothers Ivan and Peter Matveev was built according to the design of Samara architect Dmitry Alexandrovich Werner in 1912. The three-storey house was built in the spirit of Belgian Art Nouveau. Moreover, not only the stylistic similarity, but also the layout of the house testifies to the European connection: a narrow facade with four windows hides a long building extending to the back of the block. The mansion is decorated with ceramic tiles in two colors: greenish and olive stripe between the windows of the third floor and the cornice. Ceramic decoration of the facade was Werner's favorite technique, and the color scheme of the Matveev residence was chosen in such a way as to harmonize with the neighboring Shchetinkin trading house.
