Diocesan House
Detailed description
The diocesan house was built in 1913 on the initiative of Archbishop Arseny. The building housed the diocesan administration, the Alexander Nevsky Brotherhood with a bookstore and a hall for concerts and brass readings, as well as the archive and museum of the ancient repository. In Soviet times, the building was given over to house the theater of the October Revolution, and in wartime, the Germans placed it in the premises of the stable. After the war, the building housed a Drama Theater. Currently, the building is occupied by the regional Philharmonic.
