The inscription Citizens! During the shelling, this side of the street is the most dangerous
Detailed description
The Great Patriotic War began in June 1941. Already in September, Leningrad began to be subjected to daily bombardments and artillery attacks. In order to minimize civilian casualties, inscriptions with warnings of danger began to be applied on the buildings of houses. Most often, the city was shelled from the Pulkovo Heights and from Strelnya. Therefore, such inscriptions were applied on the northern and northeastern facades of houses. To perpetuate the memory of the dead, it was decided to leave the inscriptions on the facades.
