N.P.Demidov's apartment house 1910-1911
Detailed description
The house of Major General N. P. Demidov was built in the period from 1910 to 1911. The house had 6 floors, attics and Art Nouveau decor. There are outbuildings in the courtyard, which were built even earlier, in 1879, for the previous owner F. I. Firs. The attic floor was given over to art workshops. In 1913, the famous architect O. R. Munts moved into the house and lived here until 1942. His daughter, N. O. Munts, also lived with her father. She was a famous book illustrator. Among her works are covers for Pushkin's novels.
