Foundation of the Bonov House
Detailed description
The Bonov house was built in 1748 by architect Ivan Yakovlevich Schumacher. In the first half of the 18th century, the estate belonged to General Hermann Johann von Bohn. In 1732, the territory was leased by the Academy of Sciences for housing employees and a botanical garden. In 1740, the five-room apartment was given to Mikhail Lomonosov, as a chemist and an employee of the Academy of Sciences. Here the scientist lived by himself and organized a chemical laboratory. Later, the site was sold, the wooden building was rebuilt by new owners, and during the Great Patriotic War, the building was dismantled for firewood. To this day, only the foundation has been preserved, which is now protected as a regional monument.
