Vodovzvodnaya tower
Detailed description
The Kremlin's southwest corner tower was built in 1488, but was demolished in 1805 due to its dilapidation. However, it was rebuilt in 1807 on the old foundation according to the drawings. Napoleon's troops blew up the tower in 1812, but seven years later it was rebuilt with some changes. Since 1937, a three-meter-wide star has been installed on top of the tower, and in 1990 the tower was included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List as part of the Kremlin ensemble. A year later, the tower was chosen as the image of the inner cover of the passport of the Russian Federation.
