Column of Glory
Detailed description
At the head of Konnogvardeysky Boulevard are two pillars in the shape of Victory goddesses. They were installed on Konnogvardeysky Boulevard in 1845-1846 in memory of the victory of the Konnogvardeysky Regiment in the Patriotic War of 1812. The flying statue of the goddess Nika with a laurel wreath in her hand, forming a column, was made in Berlin and then presented to Emperor Nicholas I by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV in 1845. The height of each column is 12 meters, and the height of the statues is 2.5 meters. The Colonnade of Glory is included in the Unified Register of Cultural Heritage Sites of Russia.
