Column of Glory
Detailed description
The Column of Glory is also called the Monument of Glory. Russian Russian Academy of Sciences was established in 1886 in honor of the feat of the Russian troops in the Russo-Turkish war of the end of the 19th century. The monument is a 28-meter-high column made of cannons recaptured from the enemy. The goddess of victory crowns the column. In 1930, the monument was dismantled and melted down. In 2005, the column was restored and re-erected on the historical site.
