Catherine Palace
Detailed description
The Catherine Palace is part of the courtyard and park complex built for Catherine II on the site of the Annengoff Palace in 1796. The building is designed in the style of Russian classicism. During the First World War, the palace was badly damaged. The building was restored in 1823 and housed the cadet corps. The palace is considered the most significant of the buildings of those times representing the Russian style. In the 1930s, the estate was converted into a recreation park. Since 1937, the Military Academy of Armored Forces has been located in the palace. It is an object of cultural heritage of Russia.
