In the 1830s, the building housed the 2nd Carabinieri Training Regiment. Since 1864, it became the Moscow Infantry Cadet School, which existed under this name until 1897. Under this name, the school existed until 1897, graduating about 14,000 officers. In 1897, the school was renamed the Moscow Military College. From 1833 to 1918, the main building housed the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. After the revolution, the Military Academy was abolished. The building was occupied by the Moscow military garrison of the Red Army. After the Great Patriotic War, the buildings of the former Alekseevsky University housed officer dormitories of the Lomonosov Armored Cadet School.
