The original dam was built in 1720 by architects N. Bidloo, I. Zarudny, I. Ustinov, P. Eropkin, etc. Mustache. Rebuilt under the direction of F.B. Rastrelli, the Venus Dam was erected for the solemn ceremonies associated with the coronation of Catherine I in 1730. Despite the fact that the statue of the goddess Venus was installed on the dam, it has not survived to this day.

Оригинальная плотина была построена в 1720-ом году архитекторами Н. Бидлоо, И. Зарудным, И. Устиновым, П. Еропкиным и Т. Усовым. Перестроенная под руководством Ф.Б. Растрелли Плотина Венеры была возведена для торжественных церемоний, связанных с коронацией Екатерины I в 1730-ом году. Несмотря на то, что статуя богини Венеры была установлена на плотине, она не сохранилась до наших дней.
