Detailed description

The fortress was built in 1731-1740, and received its name in honor of Tsar Ivan V Alekseevich. It is a defensive fortification on the eastern side of the Peter and Paul Fortress. Barracks are located in the walls of the building, in the left part there is the Ioannovsky Gate, from them the Ioannovsky Bridge is thrown to the Petrograd side. Currently, the ravelin houses the Museum of Cosmonautics and Rocket Technology. Nearby you can see the Museum of the History of Money and the Peter and Paul Fortress.
