Detailed description

The museum itself is located on the territory of the Peter and Paul Fortress, in the Ioannovsky Ravelin. It is a historical and national monument, an object of cultural heritage of the Russian Federation. The historical stone foundation of the ravelin can be seen in the glass pothole in the floor of the museum. The stone ravelin and St. John's Gate were built between 1731 and 1740 on the site of the first wooden building designed by military engineer Minich. The exhibits provide visitors with a basic understanding of the design of spacecraft. Next to the exhibits there are small explanatory notes describing the features and purpose of the devices, as well as a story about the engines designed by Glushko. There are many models of spaceships and stations.
