The Palace of Prince Alexander Bezborodko
Detailed description
Count Bezborodko acquired two adjacent buildings in 1781. Combining them, he built a huge mansion with granite columns and bronze vases at the entrance. After his death, the mansion was inherited by his younger brother. In 1809, the building was already rented out. It was rented by famous political figures: Golitsyn, Kurakin and others. Subsequently, the building passed "from hand to hand" to the heirs of the count. In 1825, the mansion was sold to the Postal Department. The management decided to slightly redesign the interiors. In 1974, the palace was completely renovated. Now the Popov Museum is located in its premises.
