P. Petrova 's house
Detailed description
A monument of urban planning and architecture in the historical center of Nizhny Novgorod. It was built in 1843-1844. The author of the project is G. I. Kiesewetter. The building was built with differences from the project. The size of the annex was reduced, and the stucco decoration of the main facade was changed. The image of the building is similar to the classic exemplary facades. But individual decorative elements and their location indicate a departure from classicism and a transition to eclecticism. The structure of the street facade, where the first floor is regarded as a basement, and the second is distinguished by large vertical divisions, indicates adherence to the principles of classicism. At the same time, the combination of details in its decor, of all possible origins and stylistic affiliation, indicates eclecticism.
