The main house of the estate of G.M. von Vogau

Nowadays, the building belongs to the Scientific Research Institute of Physics and Chemistry in Moscow. The von Vogau family owned the estate until the events of 1917. The building is located on the banks of the Yauza River. The merchant Hugo von Vogau became famous for his Orders of St. Peter the Great. St. Stanislaus and St. Anna., with the title of advisor and member of the Moscow Architectural Society. In 1915, the mansion was burned to the ground by the Germans, only the walls remained of it, then the family of industrialists was forced to sell all their companies and leave Russia, and the house stood in a ruined state on Vorontsovo Field until 1920. After this incident, the building was given to the L.Y. Karpov Institute of Physics and Chemistry. It was transformed, the third floor was completed, and it became the main building of the university. Workers' rooms are located on the top floor, and a picturesque park stretches around the building. It has been preserved to our time, but the territory of the building is closed for walks.
