Spasskaya Tower
Detailed description
This chapel was built in the early 1850s as a two-storey extension to the Spasskaya Tower of the Novgorod Kremlin. The tower was built at the end of the 15th century and had a chapel inside. In the upper part of the extension there was the Transfiguration Church with majestic statues painted on the walls of the tower, and in the lower part there was the Transfiguration Chapel with a well. It was closed after the revolution, damaged during the war, and demolished in the early 1960s during the restoration of the tower.
