Apartment house, architect O.G. Piotrovich
Detailed description
In 1912, a five-storey house was built. Two stucco friezes run between the floors, as if dividing the building vertically. The lower frieze surprises with a combination of plant-based subjects with unusual subjects for Russia: a naked woman and a child swimming through the waves on dolphins. The upper frieze shows a naked woman with an angel blowing a horn. The manner of execution of the plots refers to Art Nouveau, but the drawing of other ornaments and their location speak of neoclassicism in the architecture of the building. The building was once owned by Prince Nikolai Nikolaevich Obolensky, a famous Moscow politician. During the Soviet period, the building was nationalized, and the Russian poet and geographer Yuri Yefremov lived in it. The building has now been converted into a business center.
