# The House of Iron in Thailand

Ban Hun Lek or the House of Iron in English was the result of the creative idea  Mr. Pairote Thanomwong, who used old engine parts to create various figures. Thanks to his skill he managed to create from seemingly already used material hundreds of superheroes from world-famous movie universes including Transformers, Star Wars, Terminator and others.

The territory of the museum, which houses exhibits ranging in size from 2 to 4 meters, is divided into several parts. Almost at the entrance there is a room where a number of models are behind glass, despite the fact that most of the figures of the complex are publicly available - you can touch them, you can take pictures with them. The building houses several variations of Iron Man as well as various xenomorph species from the Aliens universe.

For more than 20 years, namely since 2000, Thanomwong has been producing new exhibits. It is noteworthy that initially it was an ordinary hobby, the figures were created, as they say, for home use. However, many people liked them so much that some of the works were bought or immediately made to order. In 2004 the first steel figures for export were made and in 2011 the factory was moved to Ang Thong.

In addition to another hangar with exhibits, the House of Iron has an open area with a lot of figures, from where you can also see the factory where visitors can get acquainted with the handcraft production process. There are several 4-meter transformers on the site as well as figures made from car tires. The exhibits are assembled not only from metal but also from rubber. Most often this may be a monkey, such as King Kong, or another animal with abundant hair such as a lion.

The museum has a souvenir shop where in addition to small figurines you can buy tools and spare parts made of chocolate. These can be wrenches, pliers, wire cutters or screws, bolts and gears. The taste of local chocolate may seem peculiar but the children at the end of their journey through the House of Iron will like it at least due to its appearance. The very thought of eating chocolate rebar sets the taste buds in the right way - the main thing is not the taste, but the process.

# Red Lotus Lake: Thailand's Famous Natural Landmark

> *Many have heard of the Red Lotus Lake in the province of Udon Thani but probably not everyone has seen the natural attraction with their own eyes. The largest natural reservoir in the northeastern part of the country which arose as a result of geological processes is called Nong Han Kumphawapi.*

The lake was formed over a long time and the first mention of it is found in ancient chronicles.

Red lotuses are a traditional symbol of Thailand representing purity and enlightenment in Buddhist beliefs. They bloom in freshwater bodies of water with certain conditions, including temperature, lighting, and soil composition. The locals often visit the lake for spiritual reasons.

The reservoir still plays an important role in the life of the local population. The province of Udon Thani has long been an agricultural region of the kingdom and the lake was a source of water for irrigating the fields. Over time local residents noticed the abundance of red lotuses on the lake and began to draw the attention of tourists to this striking natural phenomenon which lasts about 5 months - from October to February. During this period the lake is filled with thousands of blooming lotuses turning it into a canvas of bright red hues.

The reservoir attracts thousands of travelers every year who want to see this unique place and enjoy its beauty. Local authorities and residents do not forget about the preservation and protection of the lake's ecosystem so that it can continue to delight future generations. Visitors can take a boat trip to fully enjoy the beauty of the reservoir as well as take memorable photos. Local boaters offer trips lasting about an hour long.

The reservoir is remarkable not only for lotuses but also for the various animals and birds inhabited here. While exploring the lake there is a great chance to see different types of birds, including herons, cormorants and kingfishers. In addition grazing water buffalo can be found on the banks of Nong Han Kumphawapi.

# Koh Mak: Thailand's first low-carbon destination for tourists?

Koh Mak located 38 km from the mainland in the Gulf of Thailand. It became known to the tourist market of Thailand in 1974. However then it was an exotic destination covered with rubber and coconut plantations where people came with backpacks and tents. Since then dozens of resorts have been built there to accommodate the steadily growing number of travelers which in turn has left the island's environment vulnerable to waste. In 2022 the active implementation of the concept of a circular economy in waste management on Koh Mak began through their sorting and recycling - local waste is effectively disposed of with the support of various sectors of the island and recycled garbage is reused.

In June 2022 a number of government departments and the administration of Koh Mak signed a memorandum of cooperation regarding the further development of the island. The purpose of the arrangement is to become the main focus of the country with low carbon emissions. In addition as part of a three-year project the parties to the agreement agreed to work in the Thai Blue Carbon study program at seagrass area on Koh Mak and nearby Koh Kradat. The project also involves the development of the area into a sustainable tourism site. The seagrass area was found to be a source of high marine biodiversity.

At the same time the Thai government is promoting Koh Mak as an eco-friendly tourist destination where the use of bicycles and electric vehicles is encouraged and food containers made of Styrofoam or other polluting materials are encouraged to be avoided. The authorities of the island are confident that it is able to generate income which is distributed among local residents while providing tourist facilities with everything necessary in terms of safety and comfort. It is noteworthy that there is no nightlife on Koh Mak - there are no karaoke clubs or noisy discos and all public and personal transport is gradually being electrified. Among the entertainment there are no jet ski rides, but there are relaxing boat trips with snorkeling, as well as Tie-dye.

The main souvenir from the island that you can take with you is a fabric dyed with natural dyes created from plants, coconut husks and mud. The coloring procedure itself is very popular among foreign tourists and is called Tie-dye. The local art studio Roja invites everyone to learn how to create clothes with unique designs. Thanks to your own imagination or its absence a piece of matter can be folded as you like, then tied or clamped with improvised means and then immersed in a tank of paint. After a few minutes the fabric must be removed from the container, the paint squeezed out of it and left in this form for some time in the sun then straightened, dried, rinsed in water and finally dried, obtaining a unique pattern.

For a long time the main visitors to the island or about 60% are Thais. Road to the island is not so easy - 50 minutes by plane from Bangkok to the city of Trat or 5 hours by car to the pier from where another 40 minutes by speedboat which runs several times a day. At the same time the total number of rooms in about 40 Koh Mak hotels allows to accommodate 500 people which is equivalent to the population of the island. The booking price in the hotels of the island varies from $15 to $1,500 per day. A number of restrictions set the tone for visiting Thailand's first low-carbon destination rather than being an insurmountable obstacle with the majority of travelers to Koh Mak being returning customers.

Local residents of two villages – Ban Ao Nit and Ban Laem Son - are engaged in hospitality and a number of locals are engaged in fishing and the cultivation of rubber and fruits. Koh Mak is also rich in coconut plantations. Local authorities emphasize that the COVID-19 pandemic has had little effect on the work of the island's enterprises - most have restored their activities, new types of businesses are opening, mainly related to the rental of motorcycles. The plans for the development of the direction include the installation of solar panels but for now electricity is supplied via an underwater cable stretched from the mainland and not from the neighboring Koh Chang.

CONTEST RULES

(HEREIN THE "RULES") "#QVEDOHero"

1\. GENERAL PROVISIONS

1.1. The Rules of the "#QVEDOHero" contest (hereinafter referred to as the "Competition") determine procedures for organizing the Contest by the Organizer and participation of Participants in it.

1.2. The organizer of the Contest is QVEDO LLC (hereinafter referred to as the "Company").

1.3. The Contest is held in the interests of the Company, in order to select a candidate to popularize the Organizer's product by creating video content and promoting uncovering of creative potential.

1.4. The objectives of the Contest are:

- Search for a presenter to create regular releases of tourist programs;
- Uncovering the creative potential of the audience of users with a priority of the youth environment;
- Popularization and promotion of tourist sites, objects of social and cultural heritage of the Russian Federation, through the "Popular vote" - the choice of a leader close in spirit to the audience.

1.5. The Contest is based on the following principles:

- openness;
- objectivity;
- transparency.

1.6. Information about the Rules of the Contest is posted on the Internet site and in the official community on the VKontakte social network: https://vk.com/qvedo and https://qvedo.com.

2\. PARTICIPANTS OF THE CONTEST

2.1. Citizens of the Russian Federation who have reached the age of 18, who act on their own behalf, have the necessary rights, resources and skills to participate in the Contest, voluntarily, independently and personally assume all obligations arising from participation in the Contest, can become participants in the Contest.

2.2. Persons recognized by the court as legally incompetent, and persons limited by the court in their legal capacity, cannot take part in the Contest.

2.3. Contest Winners - Participants who, in accordance with these Rules, will be recognized as the winners of the competition.

2.4. Participation in the Contest is free of charge, which means that the Organizer does not charge any fees for participation in the Contest and does not pay the Participant a fee for participation. At the same time, any expenses necessary for the creation and submission of the Contest work in accordance with these Rules, the Participant determines and bears independently and at his own expense.

3\. TERMS OF THE CONTEST

3.1. The contest is held from October 18, 2022 (from 12:00, Moscow time) to December 25, 2022 (at 23:59, Moscow time) inclusive.

3.2. Stages of the Contest:

a) Stage 1. Submission of videos of Participants is held from October 18, 2022 (from 12:00 pm, Moscow time) to November 27, 2022 (until 23:59 pm, Moscow time).

b) Stage 2. Until December 05, 2022, the Organizer determines up to 10 best candidates and publishes the selected candidates in the Organizer’s official community on the VKontakte social network until December 09, 2022.

c) Stage 3. Determination of the first winner by the Organizer before December 10, 2022 from among all submitted Contest Entries.

d) Stage 4. From December 09, 2022 (from 12:00 Moscow time) to December 25, 2022 (at 23:59 Moscow time), the second winner will be determined based on the results of an open user voting in social network "VKontakte" in accordance with clause 5.2. Rules.

3.3. The contest work must be submitted by the Participant in the manner provided for in clause 4.1. of these Rules, no later than the period specified in subparagraph a) of clause 3.2. Competitive works sent (placed) outside the specified period are not accepted for participation in the Contest.

4\. CONDITIONS OF THE CONTEST

4.1. To participate in the Contest, the Participant must, from October 18, 2022 (from 12:00 pm, Moscow time) to November 27, 2022 (at 23:59, Moscow time) inclusive:

4.1.1. Create a video clip (earlier, hereinafter - "Contest work") that meets the requirements specified in clause 4.2. Rules;

4.1.2. Upload the Contest Work (share it) in the Participant's own account in any of the Social Networks ("VKontakte" (preferred), "TikTok" or "YouTube", "RuTube") with the hashtag #QVEDOHero.

4.2. Mandatory requirements for the Contest work (video clip) are the following:

4.2.1. The video must contain the Participant of the Contest with the following content: Story, narration or report with the background of any site chosen by the Participant (sights, places, buildings, events, phenomena) within travel atmosphere of QVEDO application; Finish the video with the phrase "Open up this World - open QVEDO".

4.2.2. The video can be shot using a mobile phone in the "Selfie" mode, or with the help of third parties. The use of special programs when shooting and editing a video is at the discretion of the Contest Participant and is not a mandatory requirement of the Organizer. Phone positioning is at the choice of the Participant. The duration of the video is no more than 180 seconds (3 minutes). The face of the presenter should be clearly visible in the frame. An image from a general plan (full height) to a close-up (portrait) is allowed.

4.2.3. The video must be created independently by the Participant and be original.

4.2.4. Contest works must not contain:

- results of intellectual activity of third parties (including musical or graphic works), the author (copyright holder) of which is not the Participant;
- materials that are illegal, harmful, threatening, insulting morality, honor and dignity, propagandizing hatred and/or discrimination of people on racial, ethnic, gender, social grounds, contributing to inciting religious, racial or ethnic hatred, containing scenes of violence or inhuman treatment with animals, etc.;
- materials that the Contestant has no right to make available by law or under any obligation;
- personal data of third parties;
- recordings of an advertising, commercial or campaign nature;
- advertising of narcotic drugs, weapons, tobacco products and smoking accessories, other goods prohibited for advertising;
- records in someone's address containing rude and offensive expressions and suggestions;
- records containing materials of a pornographic nature, obscene language, other information prohibited for distribution;
- third-party watermarks, markings, logos.

4.3. The Organizer has the right to make a decision not to allow participation in the Competition for works that do not meet the requirements of these Rules, and also if the content of the works contradicts the legislation of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the Organizer is not obliged to notify the Contest Participant of the reasons for such refusal.

4.4. The number of uploads from one Participant is no more than 3 (three).

4.5. The winners of the Contest are the Participants whose Contest Works were recognized by the Organizer and open user voting as the best in accordance with these Rules.

4.6. The Organizer, if possible, takes measures to notify the Winners by sending a message to the page (account) on the Social Network using which the Contest entry was posted.

4.7. If circumstances are discovered that indicate the use by the Participant of accounts and / or Contest entries of third parties that do not belong to the Participant on a legal basis, violation of other conditions of the Contest, lack of authority, the Organizer has the right to exclude the Participant from participation in the Contest without prior warning

4.8. The Participant independently checks the messages in the Participant's account. The Organizer is not responsible for the occurrence of adverse consequences for the Participant who did not check the messages from the Organizer in a timely manner. It is not a violation of these Rules that the Organizer fails to notify the Participant for reasons beyond the Organizer's control, including due to the Participant's restriction of the ability to send messages to the Participant's account on the Social Network.

4.9. The competition work posted in the Participant's account on the Social Network must be available for viewing until the end of the Competition. The Participant's account on the Social Network must not be closed during the entire period of the Contest, that is, the account must be open for viewing by any third parties, including those who are not subscribers to the Participant's account.

5\. CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION OF CONTEST WORKS AND SUMMARIZING THE RESULTS OF THE CONTEST

5.1. To evaluate the Works uploaded by the Participants in accordance with Section 4 of these Rules, a jury is formed from authorized persons of the Organizer. The Jury, guided by the Rules, determines which submissions are the most creative (best), according to the Jury. The composition of the jury is closed. The Jury evaluates the Competitive Entries for compliance with the requirements of the Competitive Entries to these Rules, based on the following criteria:

- compliance with the theme of the competition;
- integrity, performance skills and artistic level;
- general perception of the originality of the idea and creativity;
- content (construction and completeness of the plot, information content);
- accessibility of perception and emotional impact;
- compliance of expressive means with artistic intent;
- quality of work (from an artistic and technical point of view).

5.2. The second winner is determined based on the results of an open "user vote" on the official page of the Organizer in the social network "VKontakte" - https://vk.com/qvedo according to the largest number of votes cast for the Competitive Work in the poll published by the Organizer.

5.3. Based on the results of the evaluation of the Competition Works, the Jury selects one, in its opinion, the best Competition Work, the Author of which receives the right to conclude an Agreement with the Organizer, to create at the expense of the Organizer 1 (one) issue of the program in accordance with the scenario and theme of the issue established by the Organizer, with payment of remuneration in in the amount of 30,000 rubles. and possible (at the discretion of the Organizer) the conclusion of an agreement for further cooperation.

5.4. Based on the results of the evaluation of the Contest Works of the User Voting in the VKontakte social network, one best Competitive Work is selected, The author of which receives the right to conclude an Agreement with the Organizer, to create at the expense of the Organizer 1 (one) issue of the program in accordance with the scenario and theme of the issue established by the Organizer, with the payment of a fee of 30,000 rubles. and possible (at the discretion of the Organizer) the conclusion of an agreement for further cooperation.

5.5. The Contest is considered to have taken place when there are 100 or more Participants who have posted their Contest Entries in the manner provided for in clause 4.1. of these Rules,

no later than the period specified in subparagraph a) of paragraph 3.2. of these Rules.

5.6. The Organizer is not responsible for failure to receive information from the Participant and/or the Participant from the Organizer, including through the fault of third parties responsible for arranging communications, for technical problems and/or fraud on the Internet and/or communication channels used during the Competition and / or the transfer of data by the Participant/Winner of the Contest to the Organizer, as well as the Organizer is not responsible for the inability to contact the Winner if the latter provides inaccurate, incomplete or incorrect data.

6\. OTHER PROVISIONS

6.1. By uploading the Contest video on the Social Network account with the #QVEDOHero hashtag in accordance with these Rules, the Participant confirms his participation in the Contest and expresses his full and unconditional acceptance of the conditions specified in these Rules. The competition is held in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation. By participating in the Contest, the Participant agrees that the status of the Participant and the relations arising in connection with his participation in the Contest are governed by the legislation of the Russian Federation.

6.1.1. By uploading the Contest video on the Social Network account with the hashtag #QVEDOHero, the Participant assures the Organizer that:

- The Participant is the sole owner of the exclusive rights to such Entry and there are no restrictions on use. If a third party provides assistance to the Participant in creating the Contest entry (including by arranging video recording and/or editing), the specified third party has provided the Participant with all the necessary consents (permissions), the third party is not the copyright holder of such Contest entry and has no right to make claims and/or claims against the Organizer in connection with its use of the Contest entry in accordance with the Rules of the Contest;
- third parties engaged by the Participant to create the videos (if applicable) provided the PArticipant with technical assistance in creating and hosting the Entries, and the creative content of the videos was determined solely by the Participant.

6.2. The Participant of the Contest, placing the Contest work in accordance with these Rules:

- authorizes the Organizer and third parties authorized by it to publish and use the Contest Work and/or its individual parts (fragments) free of charge, both in its original and in a revised form, both independently and as part of other audiovisual works and together with any results of intellectual property. activities, without any restrictions on the territory and period of use, without providing a report, duration, methods and scope of use (that is, the Organizer and third parties authorized by him have the right to use Competitive work by any means, as listed in Articles 1270, 1317, 1324 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, and not listed in these articles);
- allows to use his Contest work and/or its separate parts without indicating the name of the author (copyright holder), to supply the Contest work with prefaces, afterwords, comments, illustrations, to use separately the sound and image recorded in it;
- Responsibility for compliance with copyright in the Contest Works (materials used in them) shall be borne by the Participant;
- The Participant of the Contest guarantees that he has the rights necessary to use the Contest entry and all its parts and materials, as well as to allow its use by the Organizer (third parties authorized by him), and bears full responsibility for its content, placement and use.

6.3. In the event of situations in which the Organizer has doubts that the Participant of the Contest is the owner of the rights to the Contest entry, the Organizer has the right, at its discretion, to exclude such Contest entry from the Contest.

6.4. The Participant of the Contest guarantees that the placement and display of the Contest work within the framework of this Contest does not violate any personal or property rights of persons, including, but not limited to, copyright, related, patent rights, rights to privacy, protection of images, protection of honor , dignity and good name, etc.

6.5. In case of claims (demands, lawsuits) against the Organizer or third parties authorized by him in connection with the use of the Contest Entries and/or any materials used in them, the Participant undertakes to settle such claims and/or claims independently and at his own expense and reimburse the Organizer for losses. caused by the presentation of such claims, in full.

6.6. The Organizer has the right to make any changes to these Rules, incl. introduce additional requirements for Participants without prior notice. All changes come into force from the moment they are published on the website.

6.7. Participants of the Contest agree that information about them, incl. surnames, names and images (performances) received by the Organizer when participating in the Contest, during its conduct, summing up or announcing the results, including those posted by the Participant in the account on the Social Network, can be used by the Organizer for advertising and other purposes at its own discretion without additional approvals from the Participants and payment of additional remuneration to them, and the Works uploaded for participation in the Competition may be published on the information resources of the Organizer and third parties. The Participant of the Contest gives his consent to the publication of his surname and name on the information resources of the Organizer without payment of remuneration.

6.8. The Participant confirms and guarantees that the account on the Social Network is used by him legally, and the Organizer sending information to the specified addresses will not lead to claims of third parties against the Organizer.

6.9. The fact of participation in the Contest confirms that the Participant is familiar with and agrees with the Rules. The Participant waives the right to demand any payments from the Organizer for the implementation by the Organizer of the rights received in accordance with these Rules.

6.10.
