The main building of the Demidov-A.B. Kurakin City House is an 18th-century building in the Basmannaya Street area of Moscow, built in 1801 by architect R.R. Kazakov as the palace of Prince A.B. Kurakin, which was rebuilt several times. During the revolutionary period, the Konstantinovsky Land Surveying Institute, the archive of the Ministry of Justice and the Alexander Commercial College were located here. After the revolution, the USSR Institute of Chemical Engineering was located here.
