Apartment house of N. P. Lamanova
Detailed description
The original four-storey building (it grew by two more floors during the Soviet era) in the neoclassical style with symbolic elements in the interior was built in 1908 by order of the first Russian couturier, the famous Nadezhda Petrovna Lamanova, "supplier of Her Imperial Majesty's court" for her fashion empire. The composition of the facade of the house is emphatically flat, with a characteristic abundance of order segments and stucco molding, bas-relief, almost graphic decor, with a contrast of white to the main tone of the walls. Rustic walls, pilasters with ionic capitals with volutes, panels and friezes with antique symbols, medallions with profiles characteristic of antiquity, meanders and floral ornaments on the cornices. The decoration of the mansion was striking in luxury.
